There is No Other (The Remix) merges Black social dance practices from Hip Hop and House dance culture, contemporary dance, and experimental performance. Sampling from Amy O’Neal’s body of work exploring societal constructs of gender, the work asks are we hardwired to perceived gender from movement alone? If race is intrinsically linked to how we perceived gender, can we be a post gender society when we are far from a post race society? Where is the space for queerness in Hip Hop culture? In pandemic reality, can we see each other more clearly and celebrate where we are different?
